귀여워요 ♥♥♥

Sheryl and I were missing our cats so badly, that we decided that we need to visit a cat cafe as soon as possible for some cat love. So we met up at Hongik University Station Exit #9 one day after school and headed over to Cheongchun Cat Cafe 청춘고양이 that is tucked on the third floor of a building located in an alley right beside Hongdae Park, where the Hongdae Free Market is held on weekends.

In case you are looking for more information on Cheongchun Cat Cafe, you can try searching on GioCat 지오캣, which is what they were formally known as back when they opened in 2006 too. The cafe has many different breeds of cats including Russian Blue, Persian, Munchkin, Abyssinian and many more. Well, I didn't actually know about the different cat breeds beforehand, but I did a bit of research after this particular visit out of my own interest and curiosity, so I could recognise some of them now =x

Upon entering the cafe after removing your shoes, putting on the slippers provided and sterilising your hands, you will see this machine where you can make payment for the entrance fee of ₩9,000 and also select a complimentary drink of your choice. This is where you can purchase cat food, as well as desserts or drink refills for yourself later too. While your order is being prepared, the staff will allocate a locker for you to place your personal belongings and a table that corresponds to the locker number that you were given. Everything from the moment you enter right up till your drink is served, was extremely systematic. I also like how the tables are specially designed with cup holders to minimise the possibility of your drink being thrown off the table, which is perhaps like one of their favourite things to do.

First one who jumped onto my lap mere seconds after I sat down ^.^

Based on my experience, the cats will automatically come and greet you as soon as you are seated at your table because cats are busybodies curious animals and love to check out something new first before anything else. My cats at home too, are security guards my mum employed to ensure we don't bring anything prohibited with us or in our bags into the house though I never have had any idea what it is that they are looking for. Those that don't go to you, are most probably asleep since cats sleep 70% of the time *fact with evidence below*.

Sheryl's favourite sleeping cat

Already there when we came..

Still there when we were leaving..

Otherwise, thought they have definitely noticed your presence, they might be just too lazy to move and prefer to stone for another moment or two. Or maybe they think we should go and pay our respect to them first lolol. Apparently, cats actually train us humans to respond to what they want us to do. Cats use their meows, which is not a "language" but something that is individual for every single cat, to make us fulfill their wish. So times when I know my cats are hungry when they meowed was not because I am psychic but because they have trained me well. Wow.

Try approaching them with their favourite toy and see if they are willing to play with you. If it doesn't work, you can try the following method that will require some moolah to get the attention of the cat you are eyeing at. Warning though, you may get more than what you are asking for...

The cats will practically forget what they are doing (save the ones sleeping), flock to your table and start fighting for your attention instead if you are holding onto some tasty cat treats for them. This kinda makes me wonder if some of them are underfed since I witnessed a cat boss hitting another slim cat when the latter was near the food bowl while I was there ='( But I guess I am in no position to judge when all my cats are overweight lolol.

Alrights, more individual cat photos~~

=p

Not impressed..

I most definitely had lots of fun right here, which is one of the reasons I visited another cat cafe in Myeongdong together with Doris and Joan when they visited Korea over Christmas and New Year (more on that in later posts!). The cats there were comparatively more "glamorous", but I would think that these here win in terms of friendliness and inclination to trust - just look at how they jumped on that guy's shoulders on one of the pictures above! Also, there were many hidden spots prepared for them so they can hide away if they are in distress or do not want to be disturbed but us humans. I like how thoughtful that was, and also how despite this, all the cats are still wondering around and sleeping in the open ^.^

Maybe I shall go work in a cat cafe when I return,
Yvette
