안녕하세요: Class Graduation

Dropping everything I have and leaving for Korea was one of the biggest decisions I never thought I'd ever make. Considering how practical (I think) I have always been, this decision was indeed illogical and pointless since I can study Korean all I want in Singapore, and it wasn't as if I was going to complete the entire course or continue my life over there. Yet I took the plunge.

Sure enough there were countless ups and downs. This also led to many disagreements with the people around me but I never regretted any moment of it. It was possibly my best experience and lesson in life. I learnt many things that I probably wouldn't have understood if I remained in my comfort zone. It was also the first time I thought I was doing something entirely for myself, something I want to, without having to worry about the consequences of my actions on others. I am not saying we should all be inconsiderate creatures and not give a thought about the people who will be affected by our decisions but to remind us, never to forget about ourselves.

Okay, I shouldn't be preaching here, so let's get on with the post in which I thought I should share some photos of the friends I made in Korea, and is missing so much. Oh, the good food too T.T

One of our class gatherings at Mr Pizza. Spot me!

All the pizzas we had along with my favourite. Solely due to the hash brown crust.

All-you-can-eat pizza, salad and dessert bar

I think I look just as young as them. Lols!

Last lesson of the semester where we sat together to pen our farewell wishes for each other

Which was then handed to us individually on the day of graduation

Along with our certification of completion and transcript

I got the additional certificate holder and gift by achieving second. Totally unexpected.

Lots of wefies with my fun-loving classmates. I really miss them T.T

The story of how one wefie led to more and more people joining in

Last but not least, mandatory class photo
Though we missed a few who already flew back to their hometown over the term break

Final class gathering..

Afterwhich, I went over to Sheryl's place for a drink supper. I wouldn't say "a drink" since I thought I ate more than I drank. I am also coming to accept the fact that I just can't drink even though I have had plans to train myself up over this period in Korea. Well, I have tried and experienced splitting headaches that I have no idea why people will want to subject themselves to a couple of times, thus I have finally decided that I am done with this. Even more so when I drew a lot in Kyoto that told me not to "give [myself] up to drinking or illicit love". Not sure how the "illicit love" came about but the drinking part was pretty accurate lolol. I still kept the interpretation with me.

Stayed over and had breakfast together before Mr and Mrs Lim headed for Osaka

I was thinking why there is this weird picture of a bunch of bananas until I recalled this nice granny we met on our way to the station. She saw us at the lift and started talking to us, asking where we came from (seeing the luggages), complimenting that Singaporeans have clean and white teeth haha, and advising us to try speaking Korean since we are in Korea. We parted ways at the station turnstile but she came over to me once more and handed me a bag of bananas as a gift. So nice of her, isn't it?

While Mr and Mrs Lim were away, I started doing a bit of travel research and did a bit of travelling around Seoul since I was done with school and had nothing much to do anyway. Surely I was afraid of being on my own at first, but this was the time I truly felt that I am not just studying, but living in this city. Although it wasn't as "comprehensive" as I wanted it to be, as I fell sick a few times and didn't get to go to some places I really wanted to visit, I am glad I managed to cover others like Incheon, Suncheon, Jeonju, Gyeongju and Busan, and was lucky enough to have met a lot of kind souls ^.^

Stay tuned for more wander tales,
Yvette
