안녕하세요: 2D1N Busan Exploration Part 2

19:59:00

I always wonder why my Taipei posts can continue to be the most popular posts even after more than two years when I have set it to be based on the most viewed in the past 7 days. WHY! Shouldn't the newest posts have more views? Am I flooding my blog with too many posts on Korea? Well if you are getting bored, fret not because - it certainly took forever - this is the last one!

Until I visit Korea again, that is..

And to end off my whole Korea expedition, we will be visiting the 40-step Culture & Tourism Theme Street 40계단 문화관광테마거리 and Gamcheon Culture Village 감천 문화마을. I was only planning to explore the other other side of Nampo since I set off early in the day, until I walked to Junggang Station and saw this..

40계단 문화관광테마거리 -- that sounds familiar..

Didn't Running Man come this place before?

So for those interested, Jung-gu is an area of great significance as it served as a transportation and administration hub during the Korean War and a place where family members who got separated meet again. The district was recently revamped to reflect how life was in Korea in the 50s and 60s, and the street was also named "The Best Street" by the Busan municipal government. Unfortunately, even though the area was projected to become another major tourist spot, it was rather deserted when I was there.

Climbed up specially to take a picture. Wonder who placed the flowers..

From Junggang Station on the orange line of the Busan Metro, I took the subway to Toseong Station which is right beside Jagalchi and meant that I should have headed towards that direction when I started my day. Sigh, I do try to make myself feel better about the lack of proper planning by telling myself I could not have possibly walked there even if I started off in the right direction, bearing in mind that I had a badly sprained ankle at that point in time from the hike I had the previous day.

Anyways, to get to Gamcheon Culture Village, take Exit #6 from Toseong Station, walk straight and turn right to get to the bus stop where you can take Saha 101, Seogu 2 or Seogu 2-2. The bus ride takes about ten minutes or so, and do note that it is a winding road up the coastal mountain.

Remember to alight when you see this sign,

And you will be greeted by this magnificent view!

The Gamcheon Culture Village 감천 문화마을, nicknamed the "Machu Picchu of Busan", consists of a great number of houses in the fashion of a staircase along the foothills of the coastal mountain. During your visit, you can actually walk through the many alleys that are vibrantly decorated with the colourful murals that the village is famous for, and get to interact with the residents there.

For me, I met this cute puppy who is so well-trained that he picked up a sock his owner dropped while bringing the clothes out to dry. He then kept himself busy by following his owner in and out of the house multiple times despite the cold weather.

And a super adorable toddler!

There are so many alleys I would got lost if I had gone deeper into the village.
This is 20-step.

Got this to try but nahhhh it tastes nowhere near how good it looks

The shops here looked like they materialised right from fairy tales..

Long queue for a photo opportunity with the Little Prince

Did you spot the walking jeans?

From Gamcheon Cultural Village, I went back to my hostel to collect my luggage and headed to Gimhae International Airport (via the subway, of course) for my flight to Osaka.

And this is it! For Gamcheon Culture Village, for Busan, and for all the days and months I have spent living alone in Korea. There are many things I gave up and sacrificed for this experience, some expected some not, but I would never exchange this few months of my life for anything. If I could turn back time, I wished I had went on this trip even earlier in my youth. I learnt and enjoyed myself so much from travelling solo, I would definitely want do this again. Let's see if I can go London early next year!

Meanwhile, wait for my posts on Japan!
